We’ve been in Mexico for a month!
Our lives are settling. We have routines now. We know some of our favorite restaurants and cafes.
Here’s a big photo dump, and a few updates…
Flower market
Anna took her first trip on the metro (riding in the women-only car) to the flower market.
She got scabiosa and the national flower of Mexico: dahlias…
Difficult fruits
We’ve been trying new tropical fruits. One of our favorites has been feijoa.
Also - yellow and red mangos, tiny avocados (aguacate) that can be devoured with the skin, big orange custard-y bananas (plátano), & dragonfruit (pitaya)…
Anna recently finished The Book of Difficult Fruit by Kate Lebo, so she’s eager to get her hands on all the fruits of Mexico.
Anthropology
We took a trip to the Museo Nacional de Antropología.
It’s massive with thousands of artifacts from the Aztecs, Maya, Toltecs, Mexica, and many other indigenous cultures.
Lillie arrives!
Our friend Lillie arrived last week and is living with us. She’ll be our roommate for the rest of our stay here.
We’re happy to have a friend in the apartment & someone to go on adventures with. We’ve already got restaurant reservations and plane tickets to Oaxaca together.
The Jacobs’ come to visit
Anna’s parents and brother came to visit!
We saw lots of sites during their few days here…
And mostly ate lots and lots of good food.
We ended the trip with an incredible 8 course dinner at Lorea (and that doesn’t include the 3 snacks we were served before dinner!). The scallops in turnip-gruyere cream and smoked milk ice cream were some of our favorites.
Thanks for visiting!!
Street scenes
A few fun photos from our walks.
Home intruder!
We’ve had a very cute someone make repeated attempts to get into our house through the window!
That’s it for now!
Lots of love from Mexico,
Bennett & Anna
I love the cute home intruder!!!!
